Twins peek
This is not Leland Palmer in the Black Lodge, it's Steve Naghavi of And One, headlining this years electriXmas. But he could have fooled me.
On a technical note, taking pictures where a smoke machine has been pumping smoke for four hours straight really, really sucks. Even when stopped, the air is full of tiny tiny dust particles, all of which are backlighted and ever so happy to ruin every shot you take. You bastards!

Less is
To balance out the minimalism of todays picture (and the witty title) I feel I have to write a lot about this pic...
Today I counted 139 more or less planned shots. (And one totally unplanned. An out-of-focus shot of my floor taken when I was plugging in the USB-cable to the 'puter.) Going over the harvest, this one floated to the top.
Calm and warm, with a hint of spring in the buds even before winter. It balances the overcrowded forest scene i posted yesterday in a nice way. It may hold some zen. I know it holds lots of less.

Quality..
Men sommaren då?
The text above is in Swedish. If you can not read swedish it does not matter much because it is written for an other image and has no meaning here, but what in life has a meaning?

Smoke
This is a facetted piece of smoke quartz with rutil needles, backlit with a tiny bike light.
It's hard to see rutil needles properly without some kind of lighting from the back, but since the actual gem is only 8mm in diameter, no normal flash can do this properly without overlighting everything in the picture.
I guess I could have built a flashtube, but it was way easier to use what lay nearby.
The lens is a 150mm telemacro, with an 2x extender, which gives me a nice larger-than-life magnification. The picture is exposed for eight seconds at f32, with the bike light as the only lightsource.
This photo shows the set-up. The large white stone is one of those milk quartz rocks you always find around the house. On it lies the gem, the light and a ITIL-badge which serves as a gobo. The yellow tripod in the background holds a flash which does not do anything useful for the purpose of the above picture.
Also, this is the first post for Shuttercentral. We will try our best to make this a most picturesque place to be. Welcome, everyone.
